Big block is a colloquialism which, in the world of radio control, refers to a nitromethane-powered model engine with a displacement of more than .18 cubic inches.

The term is derived from a reference to full-sized V8 automotive engines generally displacing 390 cubic inches/6.8 liters or greater.
