A small block is a small nitro-powered engine, usually between .12 and .18 cubic inches. They are normally used in 1/10 scale land vehicles.

The term is derived from the full-sized automotive world where it is generally used to describe V-8 engines of 360 cubic inches (5.8 liters) or smaller.
